Walk an hour a day reduces the risk of breast cancer. This healthy habit, in addition to bringing benefits to circulation, avoiding cardiovascular diseases and diabetes, it is also useful for preventing breast cancer. This was discovered by a new American study, carried out by the Cancer Society.

According to the research, ladies who walk every day for at least an hour have the 14% less chance to have this type of tumor. The study analyzed as many as 73.615 postmenopausal women. 4.760 were diagnosed with breast cancer during the 17-year follow-up.

47% of women reported walking was their only recreational activity. Others were generally much more likely to participate in strenuous activities such as walking, dancing, or sports such as running, swimming, or playing tennis.

Well, women who walked at least 7 hours a week had a lower risk of breast cancer than those who walked three hours or less. Still, the study also found that the women they had played more strenuous activities for one hour a day they had a 25% lower risk of breast cancer than their less active colleagues.

The results were not affected by factors such as a woman's weight or whether she used hormone replacement therapy. This led the researchers to conclude that walking for an hour a day reduces the risk of cancer by 14 percent.

Dr. Alpa Patel, epidemiologist with the American Cancer Society of Atlanta, Georgia, has explained: "Our results clearly support the association between physical activity and postmenopausal breast cancer, with more vigorous activity having a stronger effect."

According to the expert, too in the absence of intense physical activity, the one hour daily walk is already significant. Constant training is even more so. “We were delighted to find that, even without any other recreational activities, only the walk on foot one hour a day is associated with a lower risk of breast cancer in women ”.
