It seems that the Spirulina, thanks to its properties, is considered one of the superfood of the future. Now Sardinia is also launching into the cultivation of this micro-algae with 1000 benefits through two new plants.

We have told you several times about spirulina, a fresh water algae, rich in properties that are interesting for our health. An ingredient that is increasingly easy to find and that can be used in powder every day to make smoothies and energizing extracts but also to be taken in the form of a supplement.

Soon we could buy Spirulina from Sardinia, a region where the climate lends itself well to the cultivation of microalgae (there is a lot of sun and little pollution). In fact, two sites have recently been inaugurated in Milis and Arborea, in the province of Oristano, which aim to produce well 15 thousand tons of microalgae for food use.

And this is just to start, the goal is in fact to be able to reach 30 thousand tons in two years, thus establishing itself on the European market as one of the largest companies in terms of spirulina production.

The ambitious company is the work of the Tolo Green group which manages several projects in the field of renewable energy. Also in this case the focus is on a 100% sustainable process that has no environmental impact on the territory. As stated by the founder of Tolo Green, Gilberto Gabrielli:

"The choice of producing spirulina, a microalgae which is the protein source with the lowest possible water consumption, is perfectly in line with the concept of environmental sustainability which is in the philosophy of our group".

Of course, in addition to being an interesting choice with regard to the natural wellness market, it is important investment for the territory which in this way has the opportunity to focus on innovative production processes and become the protagonist of greater economic development.

A nice opportunity for Sardinia, what do you think?
