According to a new report byInstitute for European environmental policy, green prevents and treats many diseases, not only related to the body. They range from the reduction of allergies to mental well-being, up to the increase of self-esteem.
A team of 11 scientists spent a year reviewing over 200 academic studies giving life to one of the most extensive research on the subject and linking health, nature and well-being. The research also found that lack of access to nature and green areas contributes to health inequalities.

Health inequalities are linked to less access to nature and affect all stages of life: from pregnancy, birth to old age.

According to the research, middle-aged men living in urban areas with high amounts of greenery have a 16% lower risk of dying than similar groups living in less green areas.

The study, despite being very large, found numerous findings of this type. For example, in Spain it was found that people living within 300 meters of green spaces enjoy better mental health. It also found that doctors prescribe fewer antidepressants in urban areas with more trees on the roads.
The benefits of Nature also apply children e teenagers. From before birth to infancy, nature plays a crucial role in their physical and mental health. Newborns born in rich green areas have on average a higher birth weight and greater head circumference. Not to mention that coming into contact with nature soon favors positive attitudes in protecting the environment as adults.

It is certainly not new. I'm many studies that have confirmed this in recent years, but each of us feels it every time we savor the beauty of walking barefoot on a lawn or when we relax in the shade of a tree.
