Psyche and green life: our mental health is safe if we are around us green spaces. This was revealed by researchers from the English University of Exeter in a study published in Environmental Science & Technology.

So, if one photo of a beautiful landscape it is not enough to have more self-confidence, to ward off depression, illness and the most varied evils of existence you have to move arms and luggage to the greener areas of the city, if you can't afford a hobbit-style farmhouse in the countryside ...

Like the sunlight which, it is now known, improves mood in the blink of an eye, according to experts green spaces greatly reduce the symptoms of depression, considered one of the most common causes of disability in the world.

To reach these conclusions, the researchers drew on data from the British Household Panel Survey by analyzing the data that emerged from a sample of 1000 people for five years. Two groups would have emerged from the data collected: one made up of people moved to greener urban areas and one made up of people who moved to urban areas with less "green".

In this way it emerged that those who had moved to areas with large green spaces have had greater benefits in terms of mental well-being. Benefits maintained for at least three years after the move.

“We have shown that people moving to greener areas have significant and lasting improvements in mental health,” the experts conclude. These results are important for urban planners, who will have to think about introducing new green spaces in our cities, so as to provide long-term benefits for entire local communities “.
