We have already listed several reasons for walking every day but always new benefits of this practice so natural, simple and affordable for everyone are highlighted by science. New research reports how walk is also useful for those who are affected by cancer, since it would allow sufferers to live better and longer.

To arrive at this conclusion were some researchers affiliated with Macmillian Cancer Support, a foundation that deals with cancer both at a preventive and post-disease level and which among other things organizes walks. According to the calculations made by the researchers, based on the guidelines of the Chief Medical Officer which recommends 150 minutes of physical activity in a week, the moderate but constant movement that takes place while walking would be very useful to sick people and could avoid premature death, especially if you have breast or prostate cancer.

However, it is not enough to simply walk but you have to do it for a kilometer and a half proceeding at a moderate pace, that is, with a speed of about 5 kilometers per hour. The alternative is to walk at the same speed for twenty minutes a day.

How many and what would be the benefits about these people? Many, according to the researchers! These include a reduction in the feeling of fatigue, less swelling in the limbs and greater mobility as well as improved mood. Physical activity, therefore, whatever the state of health one enjoys, is always very important: “We cannot continue to close our eyes to an obvious and very simple solution. Physical activity is a wonderful drug and healthcare professionals must prescribe physical activity, such as walking, as a standard part of cancer recovery, ”said Ciaran Devane, of Macmillan Cancer Support.
