Limiting the use of salt is useful but not enough considering that much of the salt we consume every day comes from food products on the market, from bread to cheeses.

Hot chocolate
Well yes. Thinking about a nice hot cup, the first thing that comes to mind is sugar. But chocolate also contains a lot of salt, the taste of which is obviously hidden by the sugar.

Breakfast cereals
One serving of Kellogg cornflakes contains 0,34 grams of salt, the same amount found in sweeter grains, such as caramel ones.

Ready-made salads
It goes without saying that making them yourself is definitely the solution. This is even more true when you consider that some salads contain a lot of salt.
Mayonnaise
Mayonnaise also contains too much salt. Perhaps it is not exactly among the unsuspected but perhaps a large amount of fat is usually associated with it. As always, our advice is to prepare it at home.

Hummus and cream cheese
Cheese is certainly a tasty food but creams are even more so. Hummus bought in large retailers also contains too much salt. Better to prepare it at home abounding in spices and aromas, don't you think?

What can also be done to reduce salt consumption?
- We always read the labels
- We choose foods that contain less, preferably low in salt, i.e. less than 0.3 grams per 100 g
- We reduce the salt at the table, preferring the whole sea salt, spices, aromatic herbs
- We cut down on processed foods rich in salt (salty snacks, potato chips, some meats and cheeses, canned foods)
Important, in the first year of life, avoid salt in baby food.
