How to make the original Japanese miso soup. The recipe we recommend is taken from the book "The enchanted kitchen", published by Trenta Editore and is inspired by the animated masterpiece "My neighbor Totoro", directed by Hayao Miyazaki
Miso soup is one of the most iconic Japanese dishes ever. It is nothing more than a dish based on broth, rice and miso (condiment derived from yellow soybeans), ideal for warming up on cold autumn and winter evenings. It is a very simple dish to prepare, as well as extremely light.
If you want to make this soup at home, we suggest the recipe from the book "The enchanted kitchen", a real treat for lovers of the works of the master Miyazaki who want to discover Japanese culture and try their hand at the recipes shown in the masterpieces of Studio Ghibli.
Ingredients for 1 person
- 100 g of basmati rice
- 1⁄2 liter of water
- 4 tablespoons of white miso
- 1 leek
- chive
Preparation
Cook the rice quite al dente without draining it. Dissolve the miso with a tablespoon of the rice cooking water and add it to the broth, mixing well. Sprinkle the soup with a leek, sliced into long, thin strips. Serve the soup piping hot with a sprinkling of chives to taste.
