A new study has shown that a protein breakfast is good for burning more fat during a morning workout

As everyone knows by now, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and a new study suggests what types of foods to eat when you wake up if you want to burn more fat and thus make your morning workout more effective. Yes, you got it right, training, because even in this case, a good dose of physical activity is not disregarded.

The study, which was published in Nutrients, sampled 43 healthy, normal-weight adults between the ages of 18 and 35 and tracked them based on the foods they ate before training.

At 9 am, some participants were given a control breakfast (CON) consisting of wholemeal bread, peanut butter and orange juice. This combination was made up of approximately 30% fat, 55% carbohydrates and 15% protein. The other group instead received a high protein meal replacement (HP-MR) with a strange but effective blend of soy protein, olive oil and low-fat milk based dietary supplements consisting of 27% fats, 30% carbohydrates and 43% protein.

At 10:20 am, all participants completed a 40-minute moderate exercise session on a treadmill.

Which nutrients have been shown to be most effective for burning fat during training? Proteins!

The scientists found that compared to the control group's breakfast, a breakfast rich in proteins "produced greater oxidation of fats" during exercise e it helped participants stay full afterward.

"These results highlight the impact that consumption of HP-MR has during and after an exercise session on the energy metabolism, appetite sensations and metabolic blood markers of healthy, normal-weight adults of both sexes and provides further information on the potential role of these weight management strategies, ”the authors argue.  


So before training in the morning, if we want to give our body an extra help and be more likely to burn fat, we can opt for a protein breakfast, obviously avoiding supplements or meal replacements, unless an expert advised them.
