    This is what emerged from an Italian-American study by the Center for Celiac Research of the University of Baltimore (United States) in collaboration with thePolytechnic University of Marche in Ancona, the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, the Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo and the Quest Diagnostics Inc. of San Juan Capistrano in California and also disclosed in the Annals of Medicine.

    The study also shows that i cases of celiac disease among the over 60s - in the last 15 years - they have even doubled.

    The researchers arrived at this conclusion thanks to the blood sample monitoring - for 15 years - of 3.500 American patients and plasma analysis showed that the celiac disease it occurs more and more often among adults, especially among those over sixty.

    "Our data show that with increasing age the incidence of celiac disease increases in parallel - explained Carlo Catassi of the Marche Polytechnic University in Ancona, co-director of the Center for Celiac Research and member of the Celiac Foundation.
