In recent times i pollen responsible for allergies have increased. The cause? L'increased carbon dioxide emissions in the air. This was revealed by a study presented in recent days a Vienna, on the occasion of the conference of European Geoscience Union, which highlighted how the plants produce more allergenic substances than they have done in the past.

The study, coordinated by the University of Munich, took into consideration data from 13 monitoring stations across Europe, those provided by FAO and data on weather.
The scientists then looked into it further 20 varieties of plants and have come to the conclusion that in the last few decades there has been a record increase in the prevalence of certain types of allergens in the city and the datum is strictly connected with the phenomenon of 2 ”> CO2 emissions.
In short, 60% of the 20 plant species analyzed by the scientists showed a increase in pollen production, many of which are due to most common and annoying allergies, such as hay fever, on the rise across Europe.

"We have excluded all other possible contributions, such as thetemperature increase or change in the type of crops - the scholars said - and the only association left is that with CO2. Paradoxically we have noticed that the increase in pollen production occurs mainly in city, because the greater permanence of theozone changes the life cycle of plants ".

And the situation is bound to get worse! “This poses a problem at the local level - they concluded - public administrators should take allergies into account when they decide to plant new trees". A further study, therefore, which confirms how air pollution is contributing to change nature and our health.
