But what is the difference between oily or dry cough? Should we intervene in a different way? What are the possible natural remedies for the different type of cough?
First of all, it should be noted that cough is an important defense of our body, is the means by which the body tries to free itself from foreign agents or excessive mucus. The mechanism that makes us cough is activated in the moment in which respiratory tracts are inflamed, the problem can originate in various places: trachea, larynx, pharynx or bronchi. Obviously it is important, with the help of the doctor, identify the cause of the problem to intervene in the best possible way.
With dry cough a cold or flu often begins. There is a tingling in the throat, tickling and the cough tends to be irritating without escaping mucus. The causes can be many: allergies to pollen and dust, irritation due to smoke or dry environments but also the presence of bacteria or viruses. Frequently this type of cough originates from the irritated trachea.

La oily cough it is characterized instead by the presence of cold (for this reason it is also defined as productive). It is immediately recognizable because the sound emitted by coughing is different, deeper and lower than the one that produces a dry cough and also tends to move excess mucus from the airways to the mouth.
Sometimes it can happen that a dry cough turns into a fat cough within a day or two and that the situation worsens especially at night. The lying position in fact promotes coughing and it may therefore be useful to raise the pillow a little in order to facilitate breathing.
