Medical cannabis: According to research, it is 30 times more effective than an aspirin

According to research, cannabis is 30 times more effective than aspirin and its molecules can be used to create powerful natural pain relievers.

We have already talked about pain relieving properties of marijuana but until now it had not yet been discovered how the plant created anti-inflammatory molecules, which according to researchers at the University of Guelph, are 30 times more potent than regular aspirin.

This means that using it you could create a naturally derived treatment to treat pain, which would not only be very effective, but would not involve the risk of addiction to other painkillers. Even because the molecules in question, called cannaflavin A and cannaflavin B, they can target inflammation at source and are not psychoactive.

Although the first research on these molecules, known as flavonoids, dates back to 1985, when it was discovered that they had much more effective anti-inflammatory effects than aspirin, due to the illegality of cannabis, for a long time it was difficult to carry out further studies in freedom. .

Today, however, thanks to the legalization of the substance in Canada and the advanced research on genomics, they have managed to go further, analyzing in a study published in Phytochemistry, how cannabis sativa biosynthesizes molecules. By applying advanced biochemical techniques, they were able to verify which cannabis genes are needed to create cannaflavins A and B.

Thanks to this discovery it will be easier to develop natural drugs more powerful than aspirin, avoiding the risk of addiction, due to the use of opioids. Among other things, these molecule-based drugs would work differently from the latter because instead of blocking the pain receptors in the brain, they would reduce inflammation by striking it at the source. The only problem is that cannaflavins A and B are present in cannabis in minimal quantities, and it is therefore necessary to be able to produce them in larger quantities.
