More than a diet in the strict sense, the Lemme diet, as the extravagant Alberico Lemme himself writes (who on his website defines himself as “an engineer, an architect, a stylist, a singer [...], an inventor, a designer, [... ] in a word I am a Genius ") is a" Food Philosophy, a school of thought in the name of energy and health, it is a nutritional educational path in a biochemical key ".

In short, the Lemme diet would allow - only after an evaluation test conducted in the studio, an interview and the drafting of a personalized menu - to lose up to 10 kilos in a month, falls into the "protein regimens" category and is divided into two phases, of slimming e maintenance, with precise times to be respected for the consumption of each meal. In addition, since in its scheme carbohydrates and proteins are not consumed in the same meal, Lemme can also be considered a dissociated diet.

What is the Lemme diet

It is basically a diet in which you banishes calorie counting and promises weight loss obtained by knowing the biochemical principles underlying food (the biochemical impact that food has on the body with the interaction of the hormonal system in respect of circadian rhythms would be fundamental): in practice, every food, once ingested , causes a reaction within the body which, if used in the right way, can lead to weight loss. So much so that Mr. Lemme's motto is “I'm not on a diet, I take care of myself with food”.



The concepts on which this motto is based seem to reshuffle a little the cards of the food knowledge of the last decades:

The Lemme diet consists of two phases: first phase or slimming and second phase or maintenance.
The first phase lasts until the set goal is reached: every two days Lemme recommends the foods to be ingested based on individual metabolic reactions related to changes in weight, circumference, age, sex, season and other parameters.

The second stage is where they come gradually introduced the previously abolished foods, more and more varied and with richer and richer recipes, learning to manage all the food mechanisms so as not to gain weight.

Fundamentals of this method are two points: follow specific meal times and don't count calories. Therefore, the only unit of measurement allowed is the glycemic index of foods: if it is high, glucose is formed in the blood, if it is low it is not formed, so the sense of satiety is regulated and weight is kept under control. Furthermore, again based on the glycemic index, if a food is ingested for breakfast it produces a certain effect, which will be different than if ingested in the evening. For this the pasta is expected in the morning, because it would be metabolized better in the early hours of the day.

During the maintenance phase, the glycemic index of foods and meal times are therefore considered, essentially based on the functioning of insulin: breakfast must be taken by 9,30 in the morning, lunch between 12 and 14 and dinner between 19 and 21. Two snacks-snacks that must be consumed strictly between 10 and 11 and between 16 and 17 and consisting of a lemon wedges and tea.

They should never be consumed:

Lemme diet, contraindications

Although, it seems, many adepts (or "cadets", as he calls them), the Lemme diet seems not to be well received by many experts. So what are the contraindications and side effects of the Lemme diet?

First of all, the Lemme method swears to make you lose weight and, effectively, we challenge anyone to cook and eat a plate of plain pasta for breakfast and not go any further by remaining rather fast ...

Having said that, even if among the results of his Philosophy, reported on the site, Lemme boasts - among others - also the "treatment of all pathologies connected to an incorrect diet (diabetes2, hypertension, bulimia, obesity, etc.)", we find it a bit difficult to believe, since it is based on a strong imbalance between foods.

Besides overexertion of the liver and kidneys, in fact (remember that it is essentially a high-protein regime), it cannot be followed by those suffering from low blood pressure, given the absence of salt and sugars, but not even during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Furthermore, like all lightning diets, even Lemme, which promises to lose 7 to 10 kg in just one month, can only be a red herring, since nutrition experts in general do not recommend such a speed of weight loss, synonymous only with an extremely unbalanced diet lacking in fundamental elements.

Furthermore, the low consumption of fruit and vegetables cannot fail to lead over time to a lack of vitamins and minerals, also endangering the balance of the microbiota, the set of bacteria found in our intestine and essential for health. .
