Figs, properties, benefits and calories. Figs are rich in nutritional properties and can be eaten both fresh, when in season, and dried during the rest of the year.

A much loved fruit typical of the summer and the month of September is the fico, of which there are many varieties, different in shapes and colors. These delicious fruits, particularly sweet on the palate, are rich in nutritional properties and they can be eaten either fresh, when it is season, that dry in the rest of the year.





If you choose in the dry variant however, we must consider that they are more calories, having removed the water in fact causes the nutrients (and therefore also the calories) present in figs to be more concentrated.

Calories of figs

I figs fresh they provide our body with about 50 calories per 100 grams. Their caloric intake does not far exceed that of other fresh fruits. Calories increase in the case of dried figs. Keep in mind that, unlike fresh figs, dried figs provide our body with 249 calories per 100 grams of product.

Figs are very rich in fiber, which is why they often are recommended for those suffering from constipation or have intestinal problems. They are in fact considered to all intents and purposes natural laxatives and like plums and kiwis they are really very effective, especially on an empty stomach.

Rich in sugars, vitamins and minerals, figs can be considered a good source of energy, delicious and 100% natural, to be consumed every time you need a little more sprint, avoiding to fall back on sweets or coffee instead.

Figs are rich in calcium and other minerals, for this reason regular consumption, combined with a healthy diet and a little physical activity, ensures good bone health, as well as that of the teeth.

Figs cthey contain prebiotics, or those substances that the good bacteria that normally live in our intestine feed on. When the bacterial flora is balanced, it benefits not only our digestion but our whole body.

9) GLUCOSE CONTROL
Although they are sugary, the presence in figs of mineral salts such as potassium and magnesium helps to keep blood sugar under control. But it would be in particular the leaves of these fruits that, according to a study, would be able to control high blood sugar after meals.

Figs, even dried, are a great snack during the nine months of pregnancy, when the body's need for vitamins and minerals increases. In particular, the presence of calcium in these fruits helps to reach the daily requirement useful for the unborn child to develop the spine and bones correctly.
