Eco-hospitals: in Bergamo we are treated… broke! At the start “Together for Health and the Environment

Thanks to the project "Together for the Health of the Environment" - sponsored by the Lombardy Region and the Province of Bergamo and carried out by the Bergamo Hospital Institutes (recently born with the merger of the San Marco Hospital in Zingonia and the San Pietro Hospital in Ponte San Pietro) Lombard hospitals will be powered by renewable energy to use the energy resources available in a more conscious way and to educate people towards eco-sustainable behaviors.

Don't store avocado like this: it's dangerous

Thanks to the project "Together for the Health of the Environment"- sponsored by Lombardy region e Province of Bergamo and carried out by the I.Bergamo hospital institutes (recently born with the merger of the Policlinico San Marco di Zingonia and the Policlinico San Pietro di Ponte San Pietro) the Lombard hospitals will be powered by renewable energy to use the available energy resources more consciously and educating people towards eco-sustainable behaviors.

Take care of health, but also the environment: this is the key message of the ambitious Lombard project. In fact, the hospitals involved will use therenewable energy present in the area, following the principle of short supply chain, while for the future it is foreseen the extension of this initiative also to the employees, collaborators and patients.

“The agreement just signed, which guarantees to Bergamo Hospital Institutes the exclusive use of electricity produced from renewable sources, arises from a hypothesis on which we have questioned ourselves in recent months: since the beginning of the year, in fact, with ABenergie, the theme was precisely how to decline the 'idea' I think in green '- he said Francesco Galli - The first step was the switch to green energy, but we felt that it was not enough to stop there. We therefore decided to develop a code of conduct, in the form of a booklet, to be distributed to our more than 1400 employees and collaborators, and to pass the same knowledge on to patients and visitors as well ”.

The project provides for the distribution of a vademecum of the code of conduct (in the form of an easily accessible booklet) which illustrates useful information and advice on the environmental sustainability, to be put into practice not only in the workplace - therefore during hospital activities - but also outside, in everyday life.
But that's not all, why with paychecks a special agreement will also be distributed to allow switch to certified green energy: one more tool to promote the environment starting from everyday life.

I patients instead they will be informed on the efficacy and functioning of renewable green energy and eco-compatible behaviors illustrative posters stuck on the walls of the waiting rooms, in the elevators and at the entrances; finally, on the back of each invoice issued following examinations, samples and analyzes there will be information and practical suggestions for an eco-sustainable life. “The environmental challenge can only be won if everyone's daily actions are designed in this sense - said the commissioner Raimondi - As a Region we are in perfect harmony with this important initiative ”.

"Today we take up a challenge from this initiative: that of making great transformations even with small gestures - remarked Councilor Romanò - I am gestures to be done together, in everyday life and with a sense of responsibility, which do not want great sacrifices: these are the words used in the presentation of the initiative, and they are important words, which I like to remember ".
