Eat noccioline and dried fruit in pregnancy rreduces the risk of allergies in children. Allergy to peanuts and dried fruit can be avoided if the expectant mother does not forget to eat some, from time to time, during the nine months of waiting. So says new research.

The researchers of the Diana Faber Boston Children’s Division of Allergy and Immunology, under the direction of Michael Young. At the conclusion of the study, the researchers found that the allergy rate in children it was decidedly lower when mothers consumed peanuts during pregnancy.

Here then dispelled one of the myths on foods that should be avoided during gestation. The new research suggests that mothers-to-be who are not allergic to peanuts and nuts may consume larger quantities to prevent allergy risks in babies.

Lo study in question was published in the journal Jama Pediatrics. Experts said peanut allergy cases tripled in the United States between 1997 and 2010. According to available data, 1,4% of American children suffer from peanut allergy. Symptoms occur mostly in childhood, with the first contact with these foods.

The experts took into account the state of health of 8205 children, 308 of them with food allergies, with 140 cases of peanut and dried fruit allergies. Babies whose mothers did not suffer from allergies and who consumed the largest amounts of nuts - five times a week or more - had the lowest risk of developing food allergies.

In the opinion of the experts, the study is in line with the theories according to which theearly exposure to allergens through maternal nutrition increases the chances of developing tolerance to them, reducing the risk of developing food allergies in childhood. Dietary indications for pregnant women, which require a restriction of the consumption of peanuts and dried fruit, will likely be changed.

In any case, those who already suffer from peanut and dried fruit allergy should not consume them. The experts underscorefinally, that dried fruit is a good source of protein and folic acid, which can prevent at the same time the presence of defects in physical development in the fetus and the appearance of sensitization to the allergens present in peanuts.
