The story involved the company De A. Mare of Chioggia, which has decided to call back and collect from the stores well 1052 kg di frozen emery, coming from Spain.



    The company has opted for the withdrawal following laboratory analysis which revealed a quantity of mercury higher than expected levels inside the product. These were normal self-control procedures, which found the presence of 4,2 milligrams of mercury for every kilogram of frozen fish.

    DE A. Mare has therefore decided to launch a campaign for withdrawal of the entire contaminated lot. The analyzes were carried out on behalf of the company Goat of Biassono, who had bought a batch of emery and subjected it to the necessary security checks.

    The recall affected 65 points of sale, including some fishmongers and supermarkets family, A&O e Dimar. At the time of withdrawal from the market, however, a large part of the mercury fish it had already been sold. Only 390 kg of frozen emery was returned to DE A. Mare.

    Mercury present in fish, when consumed at high levels, can result toxic. It is mainly pregnant women and future children who are in danger. Methylmercury, in particular, is considered dangerous for nervous system under development. THE lots affected by the withdrawal are numbers 337, 489, 497 and 498.

    Now it will be there judiciary to evaluate the work of the Chioggia company, given that the presence in the food companies of foods dangerous to health represents a real one hypothesis of crime. Citizens who have purchased frozen emery which may be contaminated with mercury are welcome to return it to the point of sale corresponding.
