Don't store avocado like this: it's dangerous

Other ice creams have been withdrawn from the European market due to the possible presence of ethylene oxide. This time the recall involves Austria where Froneri, a company owned by Nestlé and Pai Partners, has ordered the withdrawal of some ice creams.

In particular, ice creams are being eliminated from the shelves of Austrian supermarkets  NuiiMilka e Smarties. According to the safety notice published by Froneri on its website, a supplier informed the company that the ethylene oxide content was higher than the legal limit tolerated by the EU.

However, the affected ingredient is used only in small quantities in the production of ice cream. In the finished product, the content is very low and well below the limit value. Therefore, the good news: There is extremely unlikely to be a risk, they reassure.

But the products were still withdrawn:

Your health and safety are very important to us. That is why we have initiated a recall of the affected products. They are single lots of the Stieleis multipacks of Nuii, Milka and Smarties.

Here all the withdrawn products and related lots:

    • Nuii Coconut & Indian Mango: batch n ° MI1022 and MI1116

Even if the recall does not directly concern our country, unfortunately it shows us once again how widespread ethylene oxide, also found in French ice creams, is now. The problem is no longer just about sesame seeds but also about sesame seeds carob seed flour, a food additive widely used in desserts.
