An "incredible weapon in the fight against viruses" and so the close association between the vitamin C contained in the supplement and the fight against coronavirus was repeatedly underlined: for this reason the Antitrust has fined Ketozone 5 thousand euros for unfair commercial practices.

The procedure specifically concerns the methods of presentation of the “Ultra Vitamin C” supplement both on the website and through a promotional leaflet sent as a newsletter.

In particular, the advertisement attributed to the vitamin C contained in the supplement "Ultra Vitamin C" preventive effects in relation to the coronavirus. The “Ultra Vitamin C” supplement is promoted and offered for sale, at a price of 13,71 euros, on the professional's website www.ketozona.com.

"The formulation of the professional's commercial communication - writes the Antitrust (which refers to the fight against the coronavirus and the means to which to attribute a 'true therapeutic effect') - is such as to suggest a close association between the assumption of the product and the achievement of beneficial effects in the prevention of coronavirus, a correlation that appears sufficient to alter consumer decisions during the pandemic. Therefore, they may have been induced to purchase the product in the belief that they thus have a means to effectively prevent infection ".

But there is no scientific proof of the correlation between regular vitamin C consumption and coronavirus prevention. For this reason, the AGCM has decided to impose a monetary administrative penalty of 5 thousand euros on Ketozona International Srl, n, also imposing a ban on continuing to use that type of unfair commercial practice.
