A new study sounds the alarm about some chemicals in plastics that could induce obesity
Don't store avocado like this: it's dangerousAccording to a brand new study conducted by researchers at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, led by Johannes Völker, some chemicals present in plastics in addition to being dangerous for the state of health would be able to block the metabolism and encourage weight gain body until the onset of obesity.
These are the results of the research of the Norwegian team that analyzed 34 plastic products, from shampoo packs to yogurt pots and in these he found among the thousands of substances that compose them - including dichloromethane considered harmful as it is potentially carcinogenic - some chemical constituents such as bisphenol A and phthalates known to impair human metabolism.
Only in the 34 products examined did the study register over 55.000 chemical components. And we all make extensive use of these products as they are present in every home. In fact, the researchers decided to analyze the most common plastic items in each family: shampoo bottles, water bottles, candy bags, disposable food packs. In short, products that we would never expect to have these effects on our body yet research shows the opposite.
The researchers studied these samples and the chemicals in them the adipogenic capacity by means of the mass spectrography and noted that already only the substances contained in a third of the plastic products observed would have caused proliferation of 3T3-L1 murine preadipocytes ie cells present in human adipose tissue.
And the research was conducted on only 34 products of daily use, let alone if they had considered many more considering all the plastic that surrounds us.
This very recent study would demonstrate that obesity is not only a condition that arises from an incorrect and excessive diet and lack of physical activity, as well as from other factors, but that this pathology can in some way be favored in everyday life by the use of plastic products that we do not consider risky as such, but whose chemicals would affect metabolism, making us fat.
And even today, despite everything, we continue to make excessive use of plastic and we even think that the problems that arise from it do not concern us personally.
