"Preliminary studies performed with this new technique - Costamagna concludes - have shown that at 3 years, the procedure remains effective in improving the quality of life in patients with moderate-severe GERD. The use of drugs that are normally taken by patients with GERD was eliminated or reduced in 73% of subjects undergoing this treatment ”.
In short, MUSE offers a new treatment option for the millions of patients suffering from gastroesophageal reflux and are unable to obtain long-term relief from available drug therapies. Or they don't want to undergo invasive surgery.
