La bronchitis is an inflammation of part of the respiratory tract, precisely i bronchi, which in most cases is caused by ainfection of viral or bacterial origin. But what are the symptoms it involves and how to recognize the presence of acute or chronic bronchitis?

Generally bronchitis begins with a common cold, but within a few days it is joined by a cough that is dry at first but then turns into greasy with the expulsion of white or greenish-yellow mucus. It's about a situation not to be underestimated as if it is actually bronchitis, the infection may go deeper reaching also the lungs and therefore worsening the health conditions of the person.

Always have a doctor listen for a cough, especially if it is a question of children, also to establish whether it is bacterial or viral bronchitis (the treatment and cure will in fact be very different in one case rather than the other).

Keep in mind that there are two types of bronchitis:

Acute bronchitis

Chronic bronchitis

But let's see now the symptoms that bronchitis can give and how to recognize an acute situation from one that has become chronic.

SYMPTOMS

The symptoms of bronchitis are initially those of a coldsuch as stuffy and runny nose, chills, sore throat, body aches, low fever and dullness. To this initial situation, however, the dry cough is added very soon which becomes greasy in a short time and it is at this point that one must begin to suspect the presence of bronchitis.

The mucus, which was initially white and transparent, can become greenish-yellow to signal to us that there is an ongoing infection to be kept under control and the fever may rise at this point.

The symptoms of bronchitis are therefore starting from the initial phase:

Runny and stuffy nose

• Sore throat

• Low fever

• Chills

• Muscle aches

• Dry cough

• Fat cough

• Presence of mucus that from white tends to become greenish-yellow

• High fever

Other symptoms that may appear I'm:

• Difficulty in breathing

Hiss (in this case it is asthmatic bronchitis)

• Asthma

• Chest pain

Of course, every organism reacts differently also depending on the type of bronchitis you have. They could therefore appear just some of these symptoms.

HOW TO RECOGNIZE ACUTE FROM CHRONIC BRONCHITIS

The most effective way to tell if it's bronchitis is to listen to the type of cough. Naturally a doctor with chest auscultation will immediately be able to understand at what level the infection is.

Ma what are the differences between acute bronchitis and chronic bronchitis?

Acute bronchitis: ha an evolution that lasts a few days after which the healing process makes the person feel much better even if the cough could remain a constant for weeks.

Chronic bronchitis: when the episodes of bronchitis are repeated frequently, this means that we are facing a situation that has become chronic. In this case the inflammation created permanent thickening of the bronchial walls, more often than not, behind this situation there is smoke or environmental pollution as a cause.

The two situations are therefore different, especially as regards the resolution time (or not) of the problem. In the case of chronic bronchitis, the cough can last for weeks after healing but once it passes it tends not to return. There chronic bronchitis instead it brings a cough that lasts several months throughout the year (at least 3) and which gets worse especially in the morning and if there is particular humidity. In this case, the presence of phlegm is constant.
