The two rare twin baby elephants are miraculously alive thanks to the care of their mother Bora

Today we celebrate Mother's Day and there is a very special one: it is called Bora and it is the mother of the two rare twin elephants.

Two twin baby elephants were born last January in Kenya, in the Samburu National Reserve. To give birth to them, Bora, 16-year-old elephant in her second birth.

At the time of their birth, some experts argued that it was almost impossible for the twins to both survive. Twin births in elephants are in fact very rare and even rarer is that they manage to become adults. This is because every baby elephant needs a lot of milk and care, so raising them is really very difficult. There drought the period then complicated things further.

Mamma Bora but how much she managed to raise her young, who after four months are still alive and healthy. The little twins, a boy and a girl, were recently spotted and are doing well.

For the Save the Elephants association, their survival to this day is proof of Bora's excellent maternal skills, as well as the elephant's resilience.

The two "miracle twins", as they have been renamed, will continue to be monitored because they are still small and will need breast milk for another two years.
