[VIDEO] Machu Picchu reduces tourists, mother bear and her cub take advantage of it (and it's not the first time)

Although Machu Picchu is open to the public, albeit with little turnout, it continues to receive the wonderful visit of the Andean bears.

Although it no longer receives the same influx of tourists due to health restrictions, Machu Picchu is open to the public, and nevertheless continues to receive the wonderful visit of the Andean bears.

It's been just four months since we last rejoiced with the tender images of two Andean bears walking around Machu Picchu, and now we get a new video of a spectacled mother bear with her cub visiting the ancient city of the Incas. Without a doubt a nice surprise for the staff and the few tourists who were in the place and who will bring with them a wonderful memory.

According to Edwin Cobos Paucar, the park ranger of the protected area who recorded the enchanting walk among the ruins, it is not the same mother and cub spotted last January, but a new pair of Andean bears. He was starting his daily work in the Sanctuary when, at about six in the morning in the sector of the Sacred Rock, he noticed that something was moving in the bushes, he approached and saw the two bears who, despite the meeting, continued their walk quietly without getting scared.

They were walking under the Intihuatana towards the Sacred Square or the Main Temple and then they continued walking towards the Inca bridge ”Cobos tells us in an interview.

Also known as spectacled bears, this is the only bear species in the world to inhabit South America. This carnivorous mammal measures, depending on the sex - the bigger the male the smaller the female - between 130 and 190 centimeters in height and weighs on average between 80 and 125 kg. Due to its vulnerability, the necessary measures and actions had to be implemented to ensure the recovery of the population of this species.

Machu Picchu is part of the habitat of spectacled bears, and in recent years it has become very common to see them momentarily leave the dense mountainous jungle and wander among the remains of this fabulous archaeological complex. And we are very grateful to him.
