A trafficker of wild animals was stopped at the border between Mexico and the United States while trying to cross the border with more 50 reptiles hidden in clothes.

The man, a 30-year-old of American nationality, was searched by the agents of the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), law enforcement agencies in charge of customs control: the animals were still alive, individually closed in plastic bags. In total, the agents identified 43 horned lizards and nine snakes hidden in the pockets of the man's jacket and pants.

The smugglers try every possible way to try to get their products, in this case live reptiles, across the border. On this occasion, the smuggler attempted to trick the CBP officers into bringing these animals to the United States, regardless of the health and safety of the animals. CBP enforces hundreds of border laws for more than 40 different government agencies, in part to help stop smuggling attempts like these, which can lead to the trafficking of potentially endangered species, '' explained Sidney Aki, Director of Operations for the CBP. CBP in San Diego.

CBP officers thwarted a slithery smuggling attempt after discovering 52 reptiles tied up in small bags and hidden in and under a man’s clothing as he tried to cross the border into the US, including:
