The man, a 30-year-old of American nationality, was searched by the agents of the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), law enforcement agencies in charge of customs control: the animals were still alive, individually closed in plastic bags. In total, the agents identified 43 horned lizards and nine snakes hidden in the pockets of the man's jacket and pants.
The smugglers try every possible way to try to get their products, in this case live reptiles, across the border. The man, who just the day before had been accused of illegally transporting 1700 other animals to the United States, was arrested for smuggling of live reptiles.
