Sun Bird Park, a project carried out by Tree Birds Workshop, is located in Colorado, in the locality of Vail. The structures serve to complete a space dedicated to children and help to underline the artistic vocation of the city.

    Sun Bird Park it represents both a playground with a path that allows you to move while having fun, and a real one art installation. The project was curated by a group of Denver designers. Inside the park there are currently three wooden nests, connected to each other by bridges and slides.

    The architects worked on designing the nest-shaped structures with the aim of strengthening the link between man and the natural environment inside a very popular city park. The wooden and metal nests were also created to guarantee the little ones an experience of play and movement in the name of fun.

    For their realization, the designers were inspired by the real nests and habitats of the birds that are really found among the trees of the park. There is also a reference to the image of flowers. Different types of wood have been used, accompanied by stainless steel to make the structures more resistant. The wood has been treated with non-toxic substances, such as wax and resin obtained from trees.

    In addition to the slides, the playground includes a climbing wall, in the name of one of the most popular sports in Colorado. Sun Bird Park was designed to be accessible to everyone, including the children with disabilities.

    The contemporary art project was commissioned to designers and artists from the same city, which started a program of park renovation dedicated to children, requiring the construction of one pirate ship that the little ones can use for physical activity while having fun, as if it were a small gym.
