In fact, we are talking about the avant-garde idea of rainwater collection facility proposed by the Parisian architecture studio “Atelier Ramdam Architec” that will be born in Latina, a territory historically and geographically predisposed to large rainfalls.
Officially called "The castle in the Sky", the project would come to life from what is the former aqueduct of the Pontine capital now "Water Tower". This architectural site in 2008 was the subject of a tender for try to redevelop and enhance it and this was one of the winning ideas.
The French company has, in fact, created a structure that will not want to be just one rainwater tank. On the contrary, the structure wants to transform itself into a wonderful public park on two levels. a territory of 2.000 square meters, of which part suspended above the tower, where people can potentially walk, use services and enjoy an incredible panorama.
The structure will be developed through a particular water infiltration system. The famous Torre dell'Acqua di Latina it is partly semi-underground, for this reason access to the part of the reservoir is allowed only from the road, while in the subsoil it will be made a kind of pond. THE'rain water will be collected to irrigate the hanging garden and, inside the tower, there are also gods muri gave. At the base of the tower would be set up a space dedicated to the tertiary sector, ie offices and commercial activities.
Il the stem of the structure will be the fulcrum and container of the air which will allow the water to "move" making - in a certain way - the entire system to function and will be built on a surface of stainless steel, able to make it also extremely pleasant from an aesthetic point of view. This material will also form a noteworthy game of mirrors that will reflect the colors of the sky and the environment, merging it with the landscape and adapting it to the natural change of its colors.
It will also be expected an elevator that will move visitors on the various levels. At the top will happen the vaporization, on the roof, in order to be away from the outside world. Precisely in this place will be the most captivating attraction of this particular castle: un 'charming terrace. Besides for landscaping purposes through the vision of the beautiful landscape, it will be realized a dance hall, where worldliness and festivity will delight visitors. Furthermore, this part will be in contact with the clouds precisely due to the vaporization process described above. It will therefore be possible to admire the city of Latina from an interesting and particular perspective.
A “far-fetched” project that could become a tourist attraction and restore splendor and life to a structure that has never managed to express all its potential.
