The Terreform One architecture studio just imagine this scenario with Fab Tree Hab, a prefabricated house that it is grafted directly into a tree, at the base of its trunk.
It is not a house "on the tree", but "in the tree" and "of the tree". The structure imagined by Mitchell Joachim, Lara Greden and Javier Arbona, using 100% organic scaffolding, would give life to a real "living" house, which it grows with the native trees from which it originates, so that it can adapt to its ecosystem in a kind of symbiotic relationship.
"Here the traditional anthropocentric theories are overturned and human life is confused with the boundaries of the earth", write the designers. “We propose a method of growing houses from indigenous trees. A living structure that is coupled with reusable prefabricated scaffolding. Therefore, we allow homes to be fully integrated into an ecological community “.
Fab Tree Hab not only offers a housing solution in direct contact with nature, but also makes an effective contribution to the ecosystem in which it is inserted, thanks to the responsible removal of human impacts and the involvement of the inhabitants in tree production.
For now it is only a project, but it would be really interesting to see this innovative structure built, ready to revolutionize our way of conceiving nature and our way of life.
