A house of 100 square meters, entirely made with 3D printing in less than a day. To show it on the occasion of Milan Design Week 2018 were the architects who conceived it. Made of concrete using a special printer, it is the first of its kind in Europe.
The building is located in Piazza Beccaria, in the heart of the Milanese corner that this week will be dedicated to fashion. The building is called 3D HOUSING 05 and was designed by Massimiliano Locatelli | CLS Architetti, in collaboration with Italcementi Heidelberg Cement Group, Arup and Cybe.
Made directly on site, 3D HOUSING 05 is designed with a new architectural language developed thanks to a revolutionary technology. Through the stratification of the concrete a pattern is generated, a surface on which climbing plants can grow spontaneously, reaching the roof up to transform it into an urban garden.
The house consists of a living area, a sleeping area, a kitchen, a bathroom and a roof terrace. The interiors have been designed with reference to the archetypes of the past, trying to combine them with modern technologies.
"3D HOUSING 05 establishes a dialogue with the context, interpreting the economic, human, social and productive changes in the contemporary world" explain the architects.
The basic building material used is composite concrete which has been associated with other equally resistant and "timeless" materials: the brass of the window frames, the marble of the bathroom fixtures, the smooth plaster for the wall finishes, the polished brass sheets for a reinterpreted industrial kitchen.
But this is not the only solution of its kind. It was recently unveiled in Texas IconBuild, a revolutionary house of 75 square meters built in just 24 hours at a cost of about 3-4 thousand euros.
Iconbuild could be a concrete answer to the housing emergency in the world. According to plans, a small community of around 100 homes will be built next year for El Salvador residents. The company partnered with New Story, a non-profit organization that has invested in housing solutions internationally.
"We are building community houses in Haiti, El Salvador and Bolivia", he said Alexandria Lafci, co-founder of New Story.

Made with a special printer called Vulcan, Icon aims to offer shelter to those who don't have it. According to the creators, he can print an entire house for $ 10.000 but work is currently underway to cut costs and build the house for $ 3. Iconbuild has a living room, bedroom, bathroom and porch.
