But is it really possible using almost exclusively recycled materials? The answer is practically obvious. The “Tiny House” Movement it is making its way around the world based precisely on the possibility of reusing discarded materials to give them a new life, limiting the use of other resources.

The Australian builder James Galletly he made it a philosophy of life. He recently partnered with The Bower to design and build the cozy little trailer shelter, assembled with over the 95% recycled materials. The latter mostly come from The Bower, Reverse Garbage and other Sydney salvage yards. The few items purchased new are screw covers and inverters for electricity.

Il coating external is an artistically assembled combination of zinc alum, corrugated sheet metal and wooden fence fences, which make the structure 100% waterproof. The interior walls are lined with a fairly eclectic combination of plywood and sheet metal.

The walls were instead filled with a mix of Bower that acts as an insulator: it is called "earthwool" and is a product based on recycled glass and sand. The ceiling is insulated with a reflective foil. About half of the screws and fixings used are second hand and still come from The Bower.

The little hut was designed and built in 3 months. It took more than 500 hours to build, design and research the building materials and 20 people contributed their time to the project.

And the furniture? The furniture was also created using reclaimed materials to produce space-saving objects, such as the folding bed and stairs, made with pallets. The desk is also retractable and foldable. The lighting and power supply system is LED and is solar powered.

"We wanted to demonstrate what can be done with recycled materials and exhibit the tiny house concept in Sydney" has explained James Galletly. Proceeds from the sale will go to The Bower and to finance James' start-up that aims to build these types of homes using recycled materials.

The designer specifies that if necessary, the structure can be easily detached from the trailer and made permanent by placing it on a foundation as would be done for a normal house.
