He is about to end up run over, his mother saves him

The rampant baron, who among us hasn't dreamed of reading Calvino's work? Living in trees, detaching from reality, leaving the greyness of the buildings to immerse yourself in the heart of the green. A wish fulfilled by Joel Allen, a young software developer who, tired of his lifestyle, improvised as a carpenter, has built a beautiful and ecological tree house, egg-shaped a Whistler, in Canada.

Is called HemLoft and it is the result of a self-financed project and a lot of hard work. The tree is located on a steep slope, in the middle of a fir forest, about a five-minute walk from the nearest road.

After quitting your job and opting for a much more lifestyle sustainable, Allen has thought for a long time about the solution where he can spend the rest of his life without any contact with reality. So, after running out of his savings, he decided to learn the art of carpentry and build his own accommodation.

Armed with "blind naivety and supreme determination", as he himself says, he begins to design, think and finally build his exclusive and natural loft. in the middle of the Canadian woods. Not one classic tree housebut a circular cell, far removed from the "clumsy shapes of classic tree shelters," he says Allen. "I wanted something that looked a little more elegant."

It took several years to build his loft, given the demanding financial means of the improvised designer-architect. One of the biggest difficulties, after thinking about the structure, was the tree search that was supposed to house it. In the summer of 2008, Allen sets out to search for the perfect host tree in Whistler Woods, which had to meet a few requirements: to be within reasonable distance of a road, but out of sight and earshot of human traffic. and guaranteeing the shape of the egg house to adapt to the surrounding environment also in terms of size: “I couldn't explain exactly how it should be but I thought I would recognize it”. And so it was. Secondary requirements include the fact that it faces southwest and the proximity to running water.

Most of the materials used by Allen, mainly the wood, they are recycled, including the small opening windows that provide light and air.

Shortly after having finished building board by board the house where he plans to spend the rest of his life, Allen meets Heidi during a trip to Slovenia.

And they lived happily ever after in the egg-house of the Canadian forests ...
