    A father finishes the thesis of his daughter who died of a tumor and makes a book out of it.

    A tumor killed her at the age of 24 in 2016, while she was writing a thesis on nutrition in patients on chemotherapy. Today her work has become a book thanks to her father's love





    Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma killed her at the age of 24. Yet she, Francesca Pirozzi, had never stopped believing in the power of nutrition, so much so that she wrote a thesis on foods for chemotherapy patients. Too bad that her work has never been able to complete. But, in the middle of her father's hand, her thesis nevertheless took shape.

    Entitled "The ideal food", what Francesca's wish was, however, came true: her father Marco Pirozzi, in fact, with the help of the non-profit association Francesca Pirozzi, gave life to a real guide to healthy eating with a list of recipes.

    Through these pages, Francesca started writing from the bed in the Hematology department of the "San Salvatore" hospital in Pesaro, the girl wanted to explain how nutrition helps you to handle chemotherapy better and how healthy eating can help control the malaise caused by a tumor and harsh and invasive treatments.

    "Francesca was a normal girl, reserved, always attentive to everything, punctual, precise: I always made her laugh because of her being perfect" says her father Marco from the pages of the Onlus website, a kind of diary that really touches the heart.

    For high school, Francesca chose the Serramazzoni Hotel and, after three years of study and internship outside the home, she enrolled at the University of Modena to follow the degree course in Herbal Sciences.

    “Unfortunately in May 2015, blaming too many things he did, he felt a tiredness that was getting stronger - says his father. An examination revealed the presence of Hodgkin's lymphoma which he won in August 2016. Francesca continued to study, to take exams, to prepare the thesis. On the hospital bed, where she took notes on everything that happened to her every day, she had promised to tell her experience of her to be useful to those like her who had to face her. And she wanted to do it with a book. This is the commitment I made, a way to continue to feel her close ".

    “The ideal food: advice from nutritionists and starred chefs to cancer patients” will be presented in Fano on 8 June at the Cassa di Risparmio Foundation.

    The more than 200 pages contain useful experiences for patients and advice from experts, such as Giorgio Calabrese, nutritionist, and Luca Imperatori, oncologist. But also recipes by starred chefs, from Mauro Uliassi to Nadia Santini. The association will also take care of fundraising for research on cancer nutrition, which will be conducted by Vieri Fusi and Mirco Fanelli, professors of the Department of Biomolecular Sciences of the University of Urbino.
