    Naples in September hosts the largest exhibition ever dedicated to the surrealist artist Joan Mirò, an event not to be missed.

    His father wanted him an accountant but Miro he was not made for that profession and how could he have been, who had been in love with art since childhood, the reason for his life. Driven by that irrepressible passion, in 1912 he decided to enter the Academy where he approached the Fauvism current and from there on the artist who was in him finally came out into the open.

    He met Picasso in Paris, attended the Dadaist circle of Tristan Tzara, became passionate about surrealist poets and writers, and step by step he won the fame and friendship of many equally brilliant colleagues.

    And now, a Naples, comes one for the first time exhibition entirely dedicated to his genius.

    The exhibition, entitled "Joan Mirò. The language of signs", Will begin on 25 September 2019 and will end on 23 February 2020, hosted at the PAN Palazzo delle Arti Naples, in via dei Mille 60. His works are great protagonists, well 80 selected from sculptures, paintings, collages and tapestries, from the Portuguese State collection on deposit at the Serralves Foundation in Porto.

    The exhibition, curated by professor Robert Lubar Messeri under the guidance of the scientific director COR Francesca Villanti, was promoted by the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Municipality of Naples and organized by the Serralves Foundation of Porto with COR Create Organize Realize, and is a event of great importance.

    About the works selected, they cover a very large time span, from 1927 to 1986, thus allowing to observe the stylistic evolution of the artist and to discover unexpected materials on which Mirò gave shape to authentic masterpieces, reusing everything, without ever setting limits.


    Whether you love the surrealism, an artistic movement of which Mirò was an exponent, this exhibition is certainly worth a visit.
