Plums: origin and characteristics 

The plum is the fruit of the Prunus Domestica, or European plum tree, and is characterized by having one elongated almost oval shape and a sweet and juicy flavor. There are different varieties of plums, each different in the color of the skin, which can be purple, yellow or reddish.

Plum is a food rich in antioxidants, mineral salts and vitamins, and the ideal time of year to consume it is from August to September; in addition to eating it alone or in a rich fresh fruit salad, plums can be used to make delicious jams or dry them, to then consume them throughout the year. They have a perfectly rounded shape and one juicy and soft pulp, with a slightly more acidic flavor than plum. Plum contains many vitamins and is a 'excellent source of potassium and calcium; as regards the color of the peel, this is yellowish and very thin compared to the plum.

The first important difference between plums and plums is the origin. In fact, they are two different fruits that come from two different trees: the plum from Prunus Domestica, the plum from Prunus Salicina.
