The proverb says that necessity stimulates ingenuity. It should be added that in some cases it stimulates the creativity and self-employment, especially if you are a student of Design in Erasmus in Lisbon and you have to furnish your poor little room at (almost) zero cost.
This is the story of Andrea Scandella, which is under the house a couple of pallets (market benches, to understand) abandoned and decides to break them down into many identical modules, from which to obtain, with nails and hammer, a chair, desk, stool, bookcase and bed.
So far the need, however, immediately followed from creativity: Andrea realizes, in fact, that that artisan gesture is not isolated, but is placed in the wake of the illustrious teachings of Self-design by Enzo Mari, who had already guessed that starting from simple instructions and custom-cut wooden modules, yes, in fact, I can self-build your own furnishings. Except that in this case there is no longer even the need (and therefore not even the cost) of the material: the pallets in fact guarantee in themselves the quality of the material and international standard measurements, thus giving the possibility of having the the same type of complete furniture, modular and demountable anywhere in the world. Thanks to some simple instructions and a little manpower each person will therefore building its accessories "home made" eliminating the expense for the purchase.
At this point the spring of self-entrepreneurship is released. Andrea decides to translate his impromptu invention into the conception of some fixed modular structures, designed with taste and intelligence: one chair with backrest (hip), one step bookcase (bookstore), one work table (table), one stool (stool) and a fouton style bed (kama). To get all the facilities four pallets were used.

Finally, together with his friend Lapo Bernini, realizes a short but dazzling promotional video aimed at all his peers looking for furniture with a high quality / price ratio.
