Withdrawal of various batches of Pasta Natura branded turmeric and pepper biological pasta, contaminated with ethylene oxide, a toxic pesticide.
Don't store avocado like this: it's dangerousThe Ministry of Health has ordered the recall of several packs of organic pasta with turmeric and pepper under the Pasta Natura brand.
The recall was ordered due to the presence of ethylene oxide within the turmeric. Ethylene oxide is a gas used for the sterilization of some preserved foods, including spices, and also used as a pesticide, but banned in Europe.
Given his toxicity - at high doses or for a prolonged time, ethylene oxide is carcinogenic - its use in Europe is forbidden. In other countries, however, food treatments with ethylene oxide are still allowed, so contamination can occur in imported products.
In fact, withdrawals take place quite frequently and in the last period they have involved vegetable drinks, ice cream, candies, baked goods and sweets.

The last point concerns the organic pasta with turmeric and pepper produced by Pasta Natura in the Villafalletto plant, in the province of Cuneo. The packages mentioned are all 250 grams and cover various formats. Here are all the lots:
- Fusilli, lot 28.01.2024;
- Penne, lotto no. 03.03.2024;
- Penne, lotto no. 16.02.2024;
- Penne, lotto no. 26.03.2024;
- Gnocco Sardo, lot n.28.01.2024.

The Ministry's recommendation is not to consume the contaminated pasta and to return the packages purchased at the point of sale, to request a refund or replacement.
