Fresh milk is back in the glass! The Latte Trento consortium has officially presented the new glass bottle for milk "The best of us", a brand reserved for high quality fresh products. In this way, the production of Trentino farmers is once again enhanced, while at the same time reducing the environmental impact of packaging. All in glass, but the bottles will not be returnable.

The milk that will be included in the product, in fact, guarantees the consortium, comes from selected Trentino companies, has a low microbial content and high nutritional value.

Specifically, in addition to making use of the "Trentino Quality" mark, fresh milk in glass bottles has numerous guarantee marks, each protected by specific production regulations. First of all, the milk is Trentino di Montagna, that is, collected every day only from the members' stables (EU reg. No. 1151/2012).

It comes from farms that are attentive to the rules of animal welfare, with a Csqa certified supply chain, and the cows are fed exclusively with fodder no gmo, 60% of which must come from the same farm on site.

High Quality means that it is produced in compliance with DM 185/91, which certifies a higher quality than normal fresh milk (4,0 fat per 100 ml).

Glass is the most environmentally friendly material, however the bottles will not be "returnable empty". It seems an environmental paradox, however the bottles still re-enter the production cycle through separate collection and subsequent reuse to produce new ones.

A milk like this will cost about 40 cents more than normal fresh milk. “This product - announces the director of Milk Trento Sergio Paoli - will go to 1,79 and simply restates only the costs of the packaging material”.

The latest news: the bottles will be empty to lose.

“The bottle recovery process is not sustainable because it is very complex, long and expensive - explains Paoli - the empties must be selected, transported with caution, cleaned using a lot of water and detergents, and sterilized. It is also much more convenient for the environment to recover the fragments in differentiated landfills to create new ones ".

A beautiful return to the past, therefore, and a new enhancement of local products that is priceless, even in terms of the environment.
