Reuse i old vinyls, now ruined and no longer usable, to create spectacle frames thanks to creative recycling. The idea was born thanks to a Hungarian start-up that decided to use old vinyl records to make handmade eyeglass frames.

There was no shortage of awards to reward their design idea. In short, a project that deserves to be followed and that avoids that the vinyl ends up directly in landfills. Think, for example, of the closure of old record shops and the goods that accumulate in warehouses.

The world of music is turning more and more towards digital (times change, listening methods are changing, unfortunately also at the expense of quality). Personally we love vinyls and jealously guard our 33 rpm collection. But not everyone nowadays has the tools to use them or are interested and willing to buy them, in shops that still sell them often at exorbitant prices or in flea markets, where luckily you can save money. The trends of consumption and use of music change. There are those who think that the digital turnaround is positive from an environmental point of view, because it can lead to less production of materials, just like CDs and vinyl records, which sooner or later risk turning into waste difficult to dispose of due to of technological advancement.

Realities similar to this start-up are welcome then, which has taken steps to use in a new way the vinyls that are no longer working, damaged and accumulated for too long in warehouses to be put on sale. Vinyl currently it is a non-recyclable material, but one can think of its creative reuse when it no longer allows you to listen to music in order to create new objects without having to resort to the production of new plastic.

Glasses born from old vinyls have an elegant and innovative look. The vinylize project is based on ecology and respect for the environment.

The company is based in Budapest and uses a special laser cut to shape eyeglass frames from vinyl records. Even the cases for glasses they are made from old vinyls, always in the name of recycling.

The idea for making these truly special glasses came from the discovery in the garage of an old vinyl collection. Hence the intuition of being able to create handcrafted luxury eyewear using old records. starting from the frames they can be made both eyeglasses and sunglasses. You can admire them in the pictures.
