In just over a month, these shoes will make their debut. What is special about them? The matter with which they are produced is collected in ponds and lakes, especially from those at risk of algal overload.
The algae are then transformed into a special foam, called EVA that is ethylene vinyl acetate, a plastic made of ethylene and vinyl acetate, which guarantees elasticity e flexibility to products.
“Made using algae harvested from rivers, lakes and oceans around the world, this shoe is the latest in our sustainable design initiatives. The shoe was launched in collaboration with Bloom Foam " explains Vivobarefoot.
Le harmful algae blooms undermine the marine environment worldwide. Chemical wastes, especially those containing phosphorus e nitrates often present in fertilizers, penetrate into streams and create the conditions that trigger the uncontrollable algae growth. The latter, in turn, release some harmful toxins for humans and animals, as well as depleting oxygen in the water and blocking sunlight, the vital components of a healthy marine ecosystem. This can lead to mass deaths of wild animals (marine mammals, fish, birds), pollution of our drinking water and the air we breathe.
By removing algae from marine systems and replacing i petroleum materials used for many modern products, Bloom Foam is trying for its part to offer a sustainable solution, a natural material for shoes that on the one hand replaces the one normally used and obtained from petroleum, and on the other helps to reduce the excessive presence of algae.

Each pair of shoes will allow you to do recirculate approximately 215 liters of filtered water in the natural habitat and will avoid the release into the atmosphere of the equivalent of 40 balloons full of CO2.
The sneakers Ultra III they will be on sale from July.
