Soon the iconic Champs-Élysées will be undergoing a revolutionary restyling. This was announced by the mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo which confirmed the realization of the ambitious project that aims to make the most romantic avenue in the world greener and more pedestrian friendly.

In fact, about 30 years have passed since the last changes linked to the Champs-Élysées, which according to the Parisians have lost their original beauty and elegance. Once home to luxury shops and major fashion houses, today the boulevard is filled with tourist cafes, department stores and several fast-food restaurants. The constant noise of the wild traffic and the smog now make it uninviting for many citizens who prefer to take walks elsewhere.

But the mayor of Paris explained that things will soon change and the boulevard will shine again. In an interview with Le Journal du Dimanche Anne Hildago stated that the city is investing 250 million euros to transform the Champs-Élysées and other areas of Paris into a paradise for plants and pedestrians.

“We will redo Place de la Concorde before the Olympic Games, then the entire length of the avenue; it will be another extraordinary garden " Hidalgo said.

The project that aims to make the Champs-Élysées greener is part of a larger plan that intends to transform the city of Paris in view of the 2024 Olympics. First it will therefore be the Place de la Concorde, while for the restyling of the Champs-Élysées we will have to wait until 2025.

The ambitious plan, created by architect Philippe Chiambaretta and his PCA-STREAM agency, aims to halve the traffic in the area and provide wider pavements for pedestrians and green areas to get back to breathe the air of Paris to the fullest.

Here's what the Parisian boulevard should look like:
