There are 4 photographers who this year have won the global victory of the World Press Photo 2022, chosen among the 24 regional winners from different countries of the world

The winners of the World Press Photo 2022, the most important photojournalism contest in the world. This edition was attended by 4.066 photographers from 130 different countries: 24 photographers won the regional victory and 4 of them the global victory.





Compared to previous editions, the competition this year was not organized in thematic categories but in geographical areas, namely Africa, Asia, Europe, North and Central America, South America, Southeast Asia and Oceania.

But who are the 4 global winners? Amber Bracken with Kamloops Residential School, who won World Press Photo of the Year, Matthew Abbott with Saving Forests with Fire, who won World Press Photo Story of the Year, Lalo de Almeida with Amazonian Dystopia, winner of World Press Photo Long-Term Project Award, and finally Isadora Romero with Blood is a Seed, which won the World Press Photo Long-Term Project Award.

The president of the global jury, Rena Effendi, said speaking of the winners:

The stories and photographs of the global winners are intertwined. All four, in their own way, face the consequences of humanity's race for progress and its devastating effects on our planet. These projects not only reflect on the immediate urgency of the climate crisis, but also give us an idea of ​​possible solutions.
