    Invergordon, port city of the Scotland, located on the banks of the Cromarty Firth. A small town that for the whole of the twentieth century was bent to Petroleum. But the city has been able to redo its look, chasing away the dark shadow that has loomed over it for over a century. How? Thanks to street Article some areas of Invergordon were rehabilitated transforming it into a tourist destination.



    Until a few decades ago, the town was one basis strategic is preferably used for Royal Navy and during the two world wars its port was also used to store the oil storage tanks.

    The naval base was closed in 1956, but Invergordon's proximity to the North Sea oil fields closely bound it city ​​of black gold. In fact, a large part of the population was employed inin the manufacture or repair of oil rigs.

    Over the years, the people of Invergordon have seen various less than green industries rise and fall, such as one aluminum foundry. The transmission costs of the electricity required to melt the bauxite imported by sea from Jamaica made business cheaper, leading to the closure of the foundry in 1981.

    In January 2002, a small group of volunteers gathered under the name of “Invergordon off the wall” they came together to address the social and economic poverty of the city. One of the projects carried out by the group was the creation of an outdoor art gallery where the history and culture of the area were depicted through large murals.

    Thus was born the path that took its name from the Invergordon off the wall group, composed of 17 murals which have become an important tourist attraction.

    Street art in this case offered a second chance, filling what was previously black as oil with color.
