Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler has donated half a million dollars to build a shelter for women who are victims of violence and abuse.

Thanks to a donation from its philanthropic organization, the Janie's Fund (whose center, Janie's house, was already opened in Douglasville in 2017), the non-governmental organization Youth Villages has now bought and renovated a house in Bartlett, a suburb of Memphis, in the States, already working.
The space will help women and children cope with mental, behavioral and emotional problems resulting from past abuse and trauma.
"This is good for my heart and my soul," said Steven Tyler.
Steven Tyler's foundation name is a reference to Aerosmith's smash hit Janie's Got A Gun (1989), which tells of a girl who uses drugs to deal with her father's abuse.
“While I was in a rehabilitation center - he explained then - I learned that most of the women and girls who were there had been raped or mistreated. I'm talking about at least 70-80% of them: suffering was engraved on their faces. Inside Janie's house I hope they get words of comfort and suggestions in order to better elaborate, as far as possible, what happened “.
“When I was in rehab, I realized that most of the women who were there had been verbally and sexually abused. At least seven out of ten, if not eight out of ten. You can see in their eyes how much suffering they felt “.
