The request to retrace one's steps also comes to the Senate Environment Commission which highlighted the negative consequences of this repeal not only for public health, favoring the illicit disposal of waste, but also from the point of view of the fight against tax evasion.
Minister Stefania Prestigiacomo is of the same opinion who, in one note, he declares: “The Sistri is an extraordinary tool for combating tax evasion, in fact by crossing the system data with what is declared to the tax authorities it will be possible to verify any imbalances and evasion attempts. It is therefore essential that the restoration of the Sistri takes place immediately and without any upheavals that would nullify its effectiveness ". The minister also hopes for a complete restoration as "excluding its application for small and very small companies, which represent 80% of the user base, effectively means nullifying the system and also disregarding the obligation of traceability of dangerous substances that it comes to us from Europe “.
On the other hand, the representatives of Fai Contrasporto who, in an open letter to Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, which will be published tomorrow on Libero, write: "Conftrasporto shares this decision to block a project that to date has only created very heavy inconvenience to hundreds of thousands of workers forcing them to pay for a service never offered and thanks those within the government who have made themselves the bearer of this decision “.
One of the complaints made to Sistri by Conftransport is, among other things, the lack of the obligation of traceability of waste to foreign transport companies which, according to the president Paolo Uggè, would allow eco-mafias to commit environmental crimes by using foreign companies. However, in the letter, they leave room for a convergence to study new methods of waste management: "This does not mean abandoning the path of controlling waste transport, the only possible tool to combat the infiltration of organized crime in this very high-risk sector . It just means starting again, all together, to “redesign” and finally make the Sistri project work, taking into account the experiences of the operators concerned ”.
