Queen Nefertiti made from 8000 Lego bricks is truly a work of art

Next to the ancient statues there is now a version of Queen Nefertiti made with Lego, the work of Koen Zwanenburg

On the Egyptian queen Nefertiti a lot has been written, and much of his life is still under investigation, but no one had thought of “celebrating” it with Lego before. Yes, alongside the ancient statues of the legendary sovereign there is now a version made with the most famous bricks in the world, the work of Koen Zwanenburg, an artist already known for Lego versions of other famous antiquities.

Nefertiti was an Egyptian queen of the XVIII dynasty, wife of the pharaoh Akhenaten, and on her figure several Egyptologists still argue: some of them for example believe that she also reigned with the name Neferneferuaton after the death of her husband, but this is still an object of debate.

A few years ago, moreover, in search of his tomb, an investigation was approved using geo-radar checks to verify the presence of empty spaces behind the wall of Tutankhamun's burial chamber, with the aim of giving any background of truth to the theories. carried out by the English Egyptologist Nicholas Reeves who has always maintained that the tomb could be part of a large burial belonging to Queen Nefertiti.

But the outcome was negative: the research team has in fact provided definitive evidence on the non-existence of these rooms, confirming the previous analysis by American and Japanese scientists.

Thus the mystery and in a sense the aura of fame surrounding this legendary but truly existed figure continues. And the Lego work also fits into this framework, for which a total of 6 months of work is required.

The bust of Nefertiti is one of the most iconic works of art of that period - writes the author on his Instagram page - What you see here is my interpretation of the LEGO brick bust. I wanted to build thisartwork not only because it is beautiful, but also because giving it shape is technically a great challenge. It took 3 months to design this 1: 1 scale version which contains approx 8000 pieces. It took another 3 months to build. It was a great challenge and a joy to build the Nefertiti bust
