    The area around the historic Vucciria market in Palermo is unfortunately a victim of decay, made up not only of waste and abandoned buildings but also of petty crime. Poetry can also help to cope with all this.

    Yes, because disseminating the walls of the neighborhood with author's poems such as those by Jacques Prévert, Vittorio Alfieri and Khalil Gibran, can be a concrete way to give an important message to the city.

    That is how Paolo Caravello, artist and photographer of the Alab “Bucciria” workshop, just inaugurated in the district (which will be followed by the opening of other artisan businesses), has decided to face the deterioration of the city. He therefore launched a beautiful initiative hoping to involve all the citizens who frequent the Vucciria area.

    About 20 sheets of craft paper, with the most beautiful verses written on them from all over the world and from all eras, posters have been stuck on the various walls of the neighborhood, practically for everyone to read as they pass. Some have already been snatched from those who did not like the initiative, but now Paolo is relaunching e asks everyone to do the same to make the neighborhood more beautiful and to remember the value of culture which, if used well, can even defeat degradation and crime.
