The geometric creations create surreal scenarios in the Egyptian desert. Its surface was used as if it were a canvas for painting. Instead of colors and brushes, however, we find the main artistic material sand. Seen from the ground, the geometries would be even more surprising.

In fact, many of the conical shapes that in the photos we can admire from above, reach a height that can exceed that of a man. These are therefore rather impressive components, which give life to a very pleasant, relaxing and almost hypnotic result for the eyes.

The choice to give shape to spirals, to create circular designs and to clearly highlight the center recalls the realization of the lens bet. The credit for their creation goes to the artist Danae Stratou and to architects Alexandra Stratou and Stella Constantinides. They worked together for two years to bring the Desert Breath project to life, the breath of the desert.

The realization of the project covers an area of 100 thousand square meters and required the displacement of 8 square meters of sand. Creation is still located in the center of the desert of Egypt and reentered the satellite footage for the composition of the maps of Google Maps. We are, to be precise, in one of the locations of the Red Sea Governorate.

The project was born from the common desire of the artist and the architects to give life to a creative work in a unusual and significant place like the desert. Right in the desert it is possible live the experience of infinity. The desert itself is considered not only as a landscape, but as a real one state of mind. The starting point of the creation is represented by the realization of conical shapes that could be admired from above and that were useful to give life to a three-dimensional work.

The center has a diameter of 30 meters. The conical volumes are part of two spirals which unfold at different angles. The final creation satisfies two goals: the possibility of admiring a perfect geometry thanks to observation from above and that of dedicating oneself to a physical and spiritual experience, walking along the paths drawn by the spirals. Desert Breath was created in 1997. Its progressive and slow disintegration represents a tool to signal and measure the passage of time.
