Don't store avocado like this: it's dangerous

This is a hitherto unknown section of the famous Roman Wall, discovered during work on the water pipes in the city of Newcastle, in the north-east of England.

Il Hadrian's Wall, built at the behest of the Roman emperor from whom it takes its name, has divided the island of Great Britain into two parts for almost two thousand years. It was conceived as a signaling of the physical boundary between the Roman provinces of Britain and Caledonia and the world of the barbarians. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005, it still attracts thousands of tourists and history buffs every year.

What is amazing is that some work is being done on the Newcastle city water pipeline, which is managed by the company Northumbrian Water, unearthed a new and hitherto unknown section of the wall 'buried' under a busy city street. The water company was doing planned work to improve the quality of water in homes when it made the incredible discovery.

The new section is about three meters long according to a press release issued by the same water utility company, and is made up of massive blocks of stone - suggesting that this is one of the first sections of the wall to be built, given that for the others were used smaller stones.

It is amazing that we were able to make this wonderful discovery, and we are happy to work with Archaeological Research Services to ensure that the find is properly protected - he said. Graeme Ridley, Project Manager from Northumbrian Water. - It is an incredible part of the North East archaeological heritage and we are honored to have contributed to its discovery.
