Inauguration of the first mosaic made with 100% biodegradable eco-tiles on a wall of the Garbatella metro in Rome

The first smog-eating mosaic inaugurated in Rome. A project, wanted by the Yourban 2030 association, which combines sustainability and innovation.

The first bio-resin mosaic of the capital was inaugurated in Rome: a project between art, innovation and sustainability.

The Garbatella district of Rome has a new digital agora in the sign of sustainability with the capital's first green smart wall, installed on a 50 m2030 wall adjacent to Metro B. It is The Endless Growth, by Jordi Alessandro Bello Tabi, winner of the Myllennium Award, MyCity section - Yourban2030 special award. Born thanks to the collaboration between Myllennium Award and YourbanXNUMX, together with GraffitiForSmartCity, the first bio-resin mosaic is made with bio-tiles and equipped with IoT technology.

A digital work of art that upgrades the area to one of the busiest places in the city. A sharing space, a smart information point with free wi-fi connection and a series of digital contents, periodically updated information and useful services for citizens.

The Endless Growth is also the first monumental photo in bioresin to appear in the capital, which carries with it a very specific message: the importance of the R Factor, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, the factor of sustainability and the circular economy. The bio-tile with which the mosaic is composed, designed by GraffitiForSmartCity by Salvatore Pepe, is 100% biodegradable and is made up of raw materials entirely from renewable sources, in total respect for the environment and without the use of petroleum and derivatives.

The work investigates the duality between natural growth and industrial growth. A dualism told by two personifications: on the one hand consumerism and the industrial production of plastic and harmful materials, on the other nature.

Veronica De Angelis President and founder of the Yourban2030 non-profit, explains:

After giving Rome the first smog-eating mural (later exported as best practice throughout Europe), like Yourban2030 we continue our mission of developing new horizons through technology and innovation. In this case, not only does innovation meet, as always in our interventions, environment and beauty, urban redevelopment and art, but there is also reflection on the use of digital technology which in this case is transformed into a moment of meeting and socializing, combining the people at the foot of a new work for Rome, to bring them closer and give back to the territory a space that thus transforms itself from a quick and inattentive passage to a place to stop, savoring a beauty necessary for the quality of life.

The President of the Myllennium Award Paolo Barletta commented:

A new example of urban regeneration that embraces the themes of the 2030 agenda. A work that denounces the conflict that our planet experiences, between human needs and the needs of nature. The theme of the dualism Being Human / Planet is absolutely topical today and offers us dramatic implications if we look above all to the near future. A future that will necessarily be for today's young people, but tomorrow will be adults, mothers and fathers, professionals, politicians or artists.
