In the holiday brochures we see palm trees, crystal clear sea and endless beaches, white and very clean, but some islands in the Maldives no longer have this postcard aspect due to waste and plastic, as told by Alison Teal, renamed as the female version of Indiana Jones .

A few years ago she had landed in the Maldives to participate in the American reality show "Naked and Afraid", but while passing tests on tests in search of food and water, Alison came across another reality, the one that is never shown on the cameras and from images of holiday havens.

Plastic mountains that invade beaches and sea, a real shock for the American surfer who has always been attentive to environmental sustainability. So she decides to do something and on her website Alison's Adventures she starts posting videos, photos of complaint about everything we are doing to the Planet.

In the Maldives there is an atoll completely covered by waste, it is Thilafushi, a lagoon that has become a landfill, because every day plastic waste and toxic material are brought there that the government is unable to dispose of.

Armed with black sacks, Alison often returns to the island to clean it up and over time she has created a real cleaning team with the local population with the aim of starting the change.

Alison has made several reports on environmental degradation and what you see in the images is a real emergency: plastic creates ugliness, destroys the ecosystem, kills animals. But the surfer also wants to show that all this waste can be recycled, like the bikinis she often wears created by a fashion house that makes garments with waste material.
